“If I Had It My Way” Friday!

On Wednesday night, here at The Church at West Franklin, I met with about a half dozen couples who are planning to have their child participate in our Parent-Child Dedication on August 16th in our AM worship service. When we dismissed, I wished I had done a better job of recommending some resources for their "continuing ed" on how to be Christian parent.

So, for today's "If I Had It My Way" Friday - if I had it my way, parents would be reading/listening to the following resources:

Getting to the Heart of Parenting by Paul David Tripp

This is a link to a message he gave on the topic and to some other helpful articles on Christian parenting.

Shepherding a Child's Heart by Tedd Tripp

This is a link to a book. A very, very good and helpful book. And, yes, Tedd and Paul are brothers. smile

**For the record, I highly recommend getting your hands on anything and everything put out by the Tripp brothers - especially as it relates to marriage and parenting. Great stuff.

Parenting Beyond Your Capacity by Reggie Joiner

Another book designed to help parents direct the children to being a part of something bigger than themselves: the mission of God!

Go here for additional - and incredible - resources from the same organization.

And, since today is the first day of school for my kids, here is an article entitled "Four Ways to Connect with Your Kids' Teacher" by Natalie Kitchen.
